The American Election: The Money, Thus Far

Here is a look at how much money is involved in the race to be the next American President. These numbers are taken from the Washington Post, available here (With Free Sign-up). It is important to note that these numbers are from Sept. 30, 2007, the final quarter numbers are due in Jan.31 2008. It should be expected that not only have these numbers increased dramatically, but they do not incorporate money spent and raised due to the primaries, let alone what effect the winning or losing of primaries would have had on each respective candidate's bank account.

In comparing accounts and money spent as of Sept. 30, excluding any major purchases, I would conclude Hillary Clinton is financially the best positioned to fight for the nomination of her respective party, not to mention best suited even among Republicans. I should emphasize, this conclusion is solely based on finances and not public opinion or support.

(Differences between the sum 'money raised' and the sum of 'money spent' and 'money on hand' are due to loans and transfers between accounts)
